Cookie consent, updating scripts not working

Hi everyone,

I’m very close to finishing a website I’ve been working on for a client of mine. We chose to use the finsweet cookie consent because it was the best option to make it look nice.

I was able to setup everything to store the cookies, but now I’m trying to get rid of all the errors in the scripts tab.

I tried it with one of my scripts. I have one on the about page that uses GSAP to animate some text. What should I do with that scripts?

If I understand correctly, I only need to include scripts that would store data from a user. None of my scripts actually store data. I mainly used scripts for animations. For example, I added Lenis smooth scroll to my website which also uses a script.

Should I include these scripts as essential? Or can I just dismiss them in the finsweet plugin?

I have tried the modify the scripts of my GSAP animation as it was displayed in the plugin. But after publishing, the scripts just doesn’t work anymore.

Any help would be much appreciated. Do I really have to fix all of these scripts set on essential? Or can I just dismiss them?

And if I have to update the scripts to be completely GDPR compliant, how come it doesn’t work anymore? How to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Hey @dominiquetorfs!

If you tag the scripts with any category other than “essential,” they won’t run until the user explicitly accepts that category.

If the script doesn’t store any user data, you can simply dismiss it.
