Has client-first framework development stagnated?

Hi everyone.

I’m really curious about this. I feel like client first v2.2 beta has been there for a while - has development stagnated, or is there a different direction being planned?

Hey @ala.alshaibani

Client-First v2.2 beta is still in active development, being refined through feedback from our community. We’ve made it available as a community cloneable for testing while we take a thoughtful approach to ensure it meets everyone’s needs before the final release.

Our development process involves gathering feedback from users like you, followed by community voting on proposed features. Only features that receive positive votes make it into the final build. This approach means the timeline is more flexible, but ultimately creates a system better aligned with what developers actually need.

We’ve been balancing Client-First development alongside our other products (Attributes, Components, CMS Bridge, etc.). The v2.1 release in January 2023 brought major improvements, and v2.2 builds on that foundation with additional features requested by the community.

There’s also discussion about a potential v3 that would better leverage Webflow’s evolving variable system, though that depends on Webflow’s own development timeline.

You can check out the current v2.2 beta community cloneable and provide feedback to help shape the final release. We have a detailed update summary on our Notion page tracking all proposed changes.

Development is moving forward - just following a more collaborative approach this time around! :flexed_biceps:
