Nesting categories

Description

Good day, my challenge is fitting the nested farmer categories into the div block allocated to hold the nested cms. Even after adding all the attributes to nest the second cms I still get the error messages about links and cms or collection list within collection list. I’ve done this before but I can’t tell where I am wrong this time. Is it because I have already turned this section into a component? This is a rebuild of the one I did before but I’ve made a few improvements. I have included my share link as well as a loom video. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Expected Behavior

I need the suppliers CMS to fit into the box for suppliers inside the produce cms…suppliers would be like the categories

Actual Behavior

I am getting error messages when I try to place the suppliers cms inside the div box in the produce card. I have added the attributes to the div box to hold the card, but I get an error message when I try to add it. Also the suppliers list that is supposed to be hidden on the produce cms template where I added the attribute for the suppliers cms is showing as well. Should I just hide it?

Hi @jillbascome!

The Loom video link isn’t working, it sends me to the Webflow page. Could you please send the correct link so I can take a look at the error message?

I took a look at your page and noticed that the collection item on your template page is missing a link.

Add a Link Block inside the Collection Item on the CMS Template page.

Then link it to the Current Supplier.

Let me know if it works for you! :flexed_biceps:

Good day Pedro,
It didn’t work. But is it because I have the farmers categories as link blocks inside the card that is a link. If so I can just put it into a regular div which will send it to the produce cms template at which time the user can click link to the farmers as well. I was hoping to go straight to the farmers from the home page card though. Here is my loom video.

Thank you for your help. I have to create my filtering after this with attributes. Hopefully I get that part right first try, but if not its great to know I can always find help here. For now let me get this part sorted. Again thank you for any advice.
Jill

Hi Pedro,
I tried changing the farmer “tags” back to regular divs and still got error but this time it was “collection list wrapper cannot be placed in a link” but the div block that I want to place the collection list into has the attributes required to hold cms (I think).
I did correct the link block on the cms template page too, can I hide it?

Hi @jillbascome,

There is a Link Block missing in the Nest-Source, just add it next to the Text Block, link it to the “Current Supplier” and hide it with display:none, it should look like this:

I tried it on my end, and it works fine. :flexed_biceps:

Let me know if it works for you!

Hi Pedro,
Thanks for getting back to me. I see how it is working for you but for some reason it still isn’t working for me yet. I have attached a loom video so that you can see what I did. I feel like I followed you visuals exactly but clearly I am still doing something wrong.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Just don’t get this
Thank you

Hi @jillbascome!,

Webflow doesn’t allow placing a Collection List inside another one directly in the Designer. That’s why we use CMS Nest —it helps display nested lists correctly on the live site.

It might look a bit strange or empty in the Designer, but don’t worry! Once you publish the page, CMS Nest will work properly, and the nested lists will show up as expected.

Try publishing the page and let me know how it goes!

I am sooo sorry…it works! I am still having really dumb moments as I learn webflow and attributes. Thanks for your patience and all the help!
