ReCaptcha and CMS List Filter

I have a question about adding reCAPTCHA to a website where I have set up CMS list filtering. If I add reCAPTCHA to the contact form on the website, is that going to make my list filters inoperable? Do I need to add reCAPTCHA to the filters? Or will I have to set up the filter form differently in order to use reCAPTCHA on the contact form?

Hey @PennyOlo! The CMS filter form and your contact form are two separate elements on the page, so it’s worth understanding how they interact before making any changes.

The filter uses a Webflow Form element as a structural wrapper, but form submissions are disabled by default by Finsweet Attributes. That means the filter never actually “submits” like a traditional form — it reacts to inputs and checkboxes in real-time. So in theory, reCAPTCHA (which validates on form submission) shouldn’t be triggering on your filter form at all.

That said, there can be page-level interactions when reCAPTCHA is introduced alongside multiple forms, and we’d want to see your specific setup before saying anything definitive. reCAPTCHA is really only meant for contact/submission forms — no need to add it to the filter form itself.

A good first step to isolate what’s happening:

  1. Temporarily disable reCAPTCHA on the page
  2. Check if your filters work as expected

If filters work after disabling it, reCAPTCHA is causing a conflict somewhere on the page and we can dig into that. If filters are still broken, the issue is likely unrelated to reCAPTCHA entirely.

Could you share your Webflow read-only link and/or your staging URL so we can take a proper look? :folded_hands: That’ll make it much easier to pinpoint what’s going on.

We’ll also flag this internally to check if there are any known interactions between reCAPTCHA and CMS Filters we should be aware of.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

I haven’t set up reCAPTCHA yet so I’m not actually having a problem at the moment. I thought I would check in to ask about it before I set it up. The filters are on a different page entirely from the contact form, so there probably won’t be a problem. If I run into any issues, I will come back and provide my read-only link.
