Hi Finsweet,
We have been using your stuff quite a lot - mostly Attributes for now.
I have an urgent and pressing issue with Webflows import and considering using CMS Bridge (highest tier), but I need to know one important thing. Even Webflow tech support isn’t sure and thinks it doesn’t work, but maybe you can prove me wrong.
We’ve used the Webflow CSV importer to import over 2.300 images.
All great you’d say…
Well no.
Importing them was a pain, as CSV import (as you probably know) is VERY sensitive to anything not exactly matching the Webflow required format. And error-notification are very limited or even non-existing.
But after many days of work we managed to get all data imported.
HOWEVER…
We noticed that all these images did not get responsive images. The specific “srcset” attributes, pointing to 5-6 different sized images (*-p-500.jpg / *-p-800.jpg / *-p-1080.jpg etc.).
As we’re using a lot of hi-res images, but also a lot of overviews / grids / galleries, we need these - other-wise our site become utterly slow/laggy.
Webflow confirmed that using the CSV Import removes all responsive images and there is NO WAY to enable that, except by re-uploading each image 1-by-1 manually through the designer.
Webflow also tested this with their API, which had the same results. So if you are using the API responsive images also won’t work…
BUT I have to try my luck here, since we’re into this massive project and have all data in-place, the website is practically ready for launch, but we just can’t make all the images responsive - and the site has multiple pages that are simply un-usable - hence this post.
I hope someone here has done /dealt with this before and (hopefully) can confirm that Responsive images are made and all synced assets with CMS Bridge in fact DO get a srcset.
(we could than bring all data from Webflow > Airtable - then replace all assets » then do a Airtable > Webflow.)
PS. also don’t upload AVIF files, or any heavily compressed asset, to Webflow - these also will not get responsive images.
PS2. Yes I know we could go the route of adding extra thumbnails, but a short version here is that we need to make this usable for our client, and already we have made concessions regarding a previous CMS. Before they could batch upload entire galleries in one single drag-drop, now they already have to do that one-by-one, and we’re not going to ask to also make thumbnails for each and upload these as well.
